It seems like everyone has an opinion about exercise. Some say you should work out for a minimum of an hour. Some say you only need to walk for 15 minutes. And some even claim you don’t need it at all. We’ll look at the benefits and purposes of exercise and why certain amounts are needed for certain age brackets. Did you know that certain exercises mean you don’t have to exercise as long? Swimming, for instance, uses every muscle in your body, so you burn more calories in a short amount of time. This is in comparison to walking on a treadmill at an even incline. You also need to add in strength training and stretching with cardio.

When people hear the word “supplement” they often think of capsules full of powder or large pills. This induces fear and lack of desire to take them. Supplements are there for a reason. The basic reason is that no diet is 100% perfect. Even if you are eating fruits and vegetables, you may be missing out on some minerals. A multivitamin, the most well-known supplement, is there to pick up where your salad left off. Supplements provide you with the right amounts of the right vitamins and minerals. You probably didn’t know you needed selenium or copper to function properly. Do you know which vegetables have it? You don’t have to because a supplement will take that burden from you.

The newest fad diet is the organic diet. If you haven’t heard of it, then you will now. “Going organic” means you only eat fruits and vegetables with an organic label. This can also spread into grains and dairy products. Meats can also be labeled organic if the animals were grain or grass fed only. Such farms have to be certified to have this labeling. Grass-fed animals are different from vegetables. So what does organic mean? Many claim that organic vegetables are grown in soil with better nutrients, which is why they cost three times as much. They also claim that organic fruits and vegetables have more nutrients than ordinary produce. We’ll look at the truth. You will be surprised.
